Singing for Pleasure

From Thursday 28th September Diane Moore will continue to host a weekly ‘Singing for Pleasure Group’.

The group meets at the Salle multi-activités, 22 Av. Mal de Lattre de Tassigny, Eymet (map) on a Thursday afternoon between 1.15pm-3.15pm (with a break for refreshments).

What does this group offer its’ members? First and foremost 2 hours of fun! The setting is informal, the atmosphere jovial. In its’ first year, the group has proven to be a great way to meet people and make new friends as it is a collective of like-minded people who love, and want, to sing the juke box hits (English, American and French) from across the decades without the pressure of having to rehearse at home and learn lyrics.

Because of the great mixture of genres and styles chosen from over 6 decades of music, the group has grown and flourished over the last year.  Songs are chosen by Diane but members are encouraged to suggest their favourites and Diane will listen to them and try to incorporate them in the weekly song list if they are indeed manageable for the group to sing. The list of songs and the lyrics to each one is sent out via email on a weekly basis so everyone knows exactly what they will be singing before they arrive (the list differs each week.)

There is no audition to join the group and no previous singing or musical experience is needed! And no one is expected to sing solo. All Diane needs from the group members is their enthusiasm, their smiles and their willingness to have a good time.  Singing is great fun and surprisingly a terrific form of exercise so expect to unknowingly burn off calories whilst engaging in an uplifting and energising afternoon.

Things members are expected to bring:
a.Song lyrics which have been supplied in printed paper form or saved on a tablet or device,
b.A bottle of water or squash to keep to keep them hydrated throughout the session,
c.A cup for tea or coffee in the interval if so desired, at a cost of 1 euro to cover costs of replenishing stocks.

Finally, there is no expectation that the members have to attend every week. It is a very fluid group and is open to all ACFAA members, male and female with no extra costs incurred once membership has been paid and accepted. All nationalities are very, very welcome.
