Tour & wine tasting at Vignoble des Verdots – March 2026

Maison Wessman, Vignoble des Verdots was the inviting venue for a day-time wine tasting towards the end of March, organised by ACFAA’s Social Committee.

Set on the hillsides surrounding Bergerac, around 40 members were treated to a highly informative tour of some young white grapevines, before descending into the vast cellar housing 500 litre barrels of wine of varying vintages.  We learned that managing their 55 hectares is – not surprisingly – a 24/7 operation, and how they set tiny fires amongst the vines to protect the young buds from frosts that can still occur at this time of year.

As well as tasting a selection of two white and two red wines, we explored the estate’s unique cellar, which exposes an underground river via openings in the floor and walls – essential for maintaining the best temperatures and humidity for the wines to mature.
